Evolutionary psychology is a science that explains human behaviour based on evolution and biology. It helps us to understand how many of our behaviours which we take as being culturally influenced, are actually shared by other animals.
This brings us closer to a better understanding and respect for animals. These concepts are important in the whole ethics discussion about the origins of consciouness and other characteristcs shared by humans and other species.
